This product is a replica of an antique cast iron mold from the 1800’s and
attributed to the Troy/Albany, NY area. Even though the originals were made of
cast iron, they have an incredible amount of detail on them and were done in a
variety of designs. Our molds depict things like a pineapple, an acorn, a woven
basket of fruit and flowers, an angel, etc. We have even seen a photo of one
with a child smoking a pipe while sitting on a chamber pot – certainly a very
strange motif for a cake or cookie! Made of hydrastone but colored black to look
like cast iron, these are a decorative wall hanging and are NOT meant to be used
with food. They are available in plain black or with gold highlights to accent
the designs.
